How to Participate

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research invites you to contribute your ideas about what it will take to reach our visionary goals.

You can view ideas and comments from others without registering on the site.

You will need to register to submit and vote for ideas and add comments to ideas submitted by others.

Once you register, you will receive an automatic email confirmation, which will include a link to confirm your account and set up your password. Be sure to check your spam folder for this email notification if you don’t see it in your inbox. The email address with which you set up your account will serve as your user name when logging in to the site.

When you log in for the first time, you will be prompted to complete your profile by answering a few questions to help us know whether we are reaching a broad geographic audience and population base.

If you are already a member of another IdeaScale community, you can log in via your current account and you will need to select the Join this Community tab at the top of the NIDCR 2030 webpage in order to participate in this community.

Check Out Ideas Submitted by Others

Use the Search Ideas box to find other ideas that may be similar to yours. You can also view ideas in each of the research areas in the list at the right. Ideas are sorted by the date submitted.

Submit Your Own Ideas

You will need to register with IdeaScale or login with an existing IdeaScale, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, or Yahoo account to submit ideas or add comments.

When you register for an IdeaScale account, you will be asked to enter an email address during registration that will be used for confirmation. Follow the link in the confirmation email to create your personal password and profile settings.

When you are ready to submit an idea, click the Submit New Idea button at the top of the page. You will need to give your idea a title, provide a brief summary of your idea, and choose a corresponding research area. Additional information should be provided in response to the prompt question(s) that follow.

Tag Your Ideas

Add tags, or key words, related to your ideas by typing a word in the Tags field on your submission form.

The tag cloud is a visual depiction of the most popular tags submitted by IdeaScale users. This feature is shown under the heading, ‘What we’re discussing,’ located in the bottom right-hand corner of each goal page. The font size and placement indicates the relative importance of a tag. This means that the most commonly used tag words are displayed first and in the largest font size. Clicking a tag from the tag cloud will present all ideas associated with that particular tag.
