Craniofacial birth defects prevention and sensible approaches to designing preventative therapies is rarely afforded the attention it deserves. The potential for prevention is too often drowned out by the noise surrounding stem cells, re-programming and tissue engineering. Each of these approaches has merit in their own right, but equal attention should be given to prevention.
In general, there is very little emphasis on basic research. The effort on finding new genes and pathways regulating normal development and physiology is key to precision medicine. It is unclear how the goal of Precision Health will be developed, if such knowledge does not exist and does not get expanded.

Research the best self care protocol for periodontal disease Patients are told to brush and floss 2X a day, and possibly to rinse with mouthwash and/or hydrogen peroxide, along with possibly using water flossers and special brushes and picks to clean between teeth. Penetrance and severity of dental and craniofacial defects are highly variable, even between patients and mice carrying the same genetic mutation. Little is known about causes of this variability.
